Welcome to The Cat Solarium. Our founder is James Cramer, is a Graduate Of McCallie Prep School in Chattanooga, Tn. and the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Al. James was on the Swim Team at both schools and holds many records in sprint Free-Style & Butterfly. After college, James founded 3 very successful companies. He bought a townhome that was on the 2nd and 3rd floors and adopted a Russian Blue cat. He was working about 80 hours a week and felt bad that his cat could not get outside while he was working. So he built the first Cat Solarium and installed it into the 3rd story bedroom window. Fast forward twenty or so years, the original Cat Solarium is still in a window at his house. April 2015, he decided to start manufacturing them and launched catsolarium.com. He will gladly answer any questions you may have, and will personally walk you through the installation. James’s off time is spent fishing, sailing, and kayaking on the Tennessee River on Wilson Lake. He too likes being “outdoors”.

Melissa Hargett also has a very successful career. Melissa, after college in Orlando, Florida, has worked for three Fortune 500 Companies in Advertising, Digital Marketing, and On-line Promotion. She brings her talents to help expand The Cat Solarium to markets all over the world. Melissa spends the day posting on Facebook, writing blogs, updating web pages and handling the advertising. Melissa is also involved in five non-profits in the Florence, Alabama area. She helps the impoverished find jobs, complete their educations, teach them a new skill set to make them more employable, budgeting and writing out their goals. She also owns thrift store to support her Foundation, Shoals Area Families. She is a pet lover and gives out free dog and cat food to the impoverished and disabled.  Melissa enjoys skippering her sailboat and kayaking down the local creeks. She is an “outdoorsy” kinda of gal.
